compared.ca sells on sedo

This week Sedo has compared.ca listed as sold for $800.00. We think the buyer got a great deal on that domain but then again compare.ca would be the better choice. Good luck to the buyer and congratulations to the seller. Its always good to see a .ca sold on Sedo.

clasificados.ca sells on sedo

Sedo.com has posted on its homepage the sale of clasificados.ca for $1500.00 USD.

This one is curious since it is a spanish word meaning classified ad. Although that is an excellent category name the fact that it is a Spanish word with a .ca TLD just doesn’t fit. We will keep an eye on this one to see what happens. May be an interesting new avenue to get into.

words.ca and estibot appraisals

Sedo.com has posted on its homepage the sale of words.ca for $1800.00 USD.

A great price for a great generic domain name. The domain is currently being parked but hopefully the buyer has a development plan for this name. What this post really is about is the convoluted way ESTIBOT appraises domain names. Below is their appraisal values for words.TLD for the .com, .net, .org, .info, and .ca TLDS.

words.com – $69000.00
words.net – $1000.00
words.org – $600.00
words.info – $6000.00
words.ca – $150.00

I find it very interesting that words.info is appraised at $6000.00. I guess that’s because it sold for $5200.00 on 7/6/2007. So I guess words.ca will now be appraised at over $1800.00 once ESTIBOT finds out about the sale. Evaluations based on previous sales doesn’t make any sense to me since I don’t personally care what someone else values the name at. A fair appraisal should be based on keywords, backlinks, PPC values, etc. Now obviously most seasoned domainers know that ESTIBOTs appraisals should not be solely used to valuate their domains but a lot of new domainers seem to use them to justify their pricing.
